General Information Lunch: Please Take Note! We have several children with life-threatening peanut and nut allergies! Please do NOT send your children with peanut butter or nuts of any kind! See suggested lunch ideas below for alternatives. All campers bring a dairy lunch (no meat, please!) and beverage each day. To keep your child's lunch cold on hot days, try adding a frozen juice box as a beverage. The camp provides an afternoon snack and food for overnights. All food served by the camp is kosher. Suggested lunch ideas: ® tuna sandwich / pita / roll-up ® egg salad sandwich / pita / roll-up ® hard-boiled eggs ® pasta salad ® bagel & cream cheese ® cream cheese & jelly sandwich / pita / roll-up ® hummus & crackers ® cheese sandwich / pita / roll-up ® salad ® cold pizza ® pita chips with cottage cheese ® soy butter & jelly sandwich / pita / roll-up ® veggies & dip ® yogurt ® cold grilled cheese sandwich ® fruit ® macaroni & cheese
Parents are notified of bus routes and exact pickup / drop off times several days before camp starts. Pickup is generally between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Drop off is between 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Exact times may vary according to proximity to camp. Clothing: We encourage campers NOT to wear "good" clothes to camp. A simple outfit of shorts and a t-shirt is fine. Secure footgear (like sneakers) is a must - sandals are inappropriate. Please check weather forecasts and make sure your child is prepared with the proper clothing each day. If rain is predicted, send a raincoat or poncho. If it is cool, send a jacket or sweatshirt. It is also very important that your child has a bathing suit and towel every day. Most of our kids wear their bathing suits under their clothes. Be sure to label all clothing. Suggested Daily List: ® dairy lunch with drink ® swimming suit ® towel ® sunscreen ® hat or cap ® sneakers ® appropriate outer gear based on weather Medical issues: We are proud of our outstanding safety record at Camp Menorah! There is always a qualified Registered Nurse on duty at the camp. Please feel free to talk privately with the nurse at any time about any concerns you may have. Obviously, it is important that our staff know of any special medical issues relating to your child. Camp Photos: We will be taking bunk photos and will notify you in advance of the day pictures will be taken. Pictures must be paid for in advance.
